POSITIVE FEEDBACK CAN BE BAD FOR YOU

--- How do you feel when you get positive feedback? According to Men’s Health a new study finds that when people are acknowledged for their good behavior they are more likely to abandon it. The research comes from New York University where researchers found that compared to those who were offered no feedback on their shopping choices, people who received praise for making environmentally friendly purchases were 25% less likely to recycle during a follow-up experiment. Researchers explain that this happens because when you're praised your brain takes it to mean a task is complete. That feeling of completeness in turn makes you more likely to slack off on whatever you got praised for. Experts say to avoid this effect, focus on your long term goals. They'll make you less likely to shrug off good behavior after a bit of praise.
