Too Sweet! There's no such thing for some!

A new poll finds about half of New Yorkers don't like Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposal to ban large servings of sugar sweetened drinks! The NY1-Marist poll released yesterday finds 53% of city adults say the proposal is a bad idea. 45% say they think the ban on drinks over 16 ounces would help people lose weight. More than half surveyed say they never order a sugary drink big enough to be banned!
Bloomberg will formally submit the proposal to limit the size of such drinks (including fruit drinks made up of less than 70% juice) to the Board of Health on June 12th.
If it’s approved in the scheduled September vote, the ban would take effect in March of next year. The limits would apply to restaurants, mobile food carts and other establishments that receive letter grades from the Department of Health -- about 20 thousand in all.
Violators would be fined $200 but would not lose points on letter grades. The limits would not apply to diet drinks or beverages with fewer than 25 calories per 8 ounces -- and would not apply to supermarkets or 7-11 stores, which market super-sized sodas.(The Big Gulp still around?)
So what do YOU think? I think they need to get the heck out of our lives! But, that’s just me!
