A Landrum man previously accused of raping a child in Spartanburg County has also been charged with a similar crime in North Carolina.
Polk County deputies said 34-year-old Alfard Mullins Jr. was indicted on first-degree rape of a child, six counts of first-degree sexual offense, six counts of indecent liberties with a child, six counts of child abuse sexual act, incest and incest with a child under 13.
Deputies said Mullins was arrested after an investigation launched by his arrest in Spartanburg County earlier this year.
Investigators in Spartanburg County said they arrested Mullins after a girl between the ages of 11 and 14 years old told her mother in October 2012 that Mullins started raping her in 2006. The girl said that Mullins would also show her pornography and molest her.
Mullins was charged with two counts of incest and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor in connection with the Spartanburg County case.
Polk County deputies said they believe Mullins sexually assaulted the same victim in their county.
Mullins was being held in the Polk County jail on $1 million bond.
