Union Co. deputies are investigating after recovering 254 gallons of illegal moonshine at a home there.
The bust happened Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at a home on Pasture Drive. In a news conference, Sheriff David Taylor said Narcotics Officers arrested two people after finding three gallons of moonshine in the house's refrigerator, and 54 additional gallons in a storage room in the carport.
Later, deputies discovered 197 more gallons of moonshine in a cattle barn next to the home.
James Wallace Harris, 51, and Manual Grady "Preach" Harris, 89 are charged with Possession of Illegal Liquor and are booked in the Union County Jail.
Both men lived at the home.
The fine for Manual Harris could be $1500 or one year in jail since this is his second moonshine arrest, Taylor said. James Harris faces a possible $600 fine or 6 months in jail.
"I don't know how far back, I can't recall this much," Sheriff Taylor said of the bust. "We've talked to some of the older deputies that have been around, and nobody can recall that much being found at one place."
